New Items!

Personally, I’m terrible at this game.  And that’s why I used to buy Stark’s Fervor on some AD carries.  Why not, right?  It gives attack speed, life steal, lowers enemy armor, and even a little health regeneration to boot!  Like I said, I’m a baddie.  This is suboptimal for a lot of carries, especially at my average level of farm each game.  Stark’s Fervor is one of three items that are either new or changed next patch.  Read on for more information! The three items being changed or added are Zeke’s Herald (formerly Stark’s Fervor), Emblem of Valor, and the epically-named Locket of the Iron Solari.

First, Zeke’s Herald is going to refine the old Stark’s Fervor into a more dedicated tank or support item by changing the statistics to increase tankiness and reducing the cost by removing Recurve Bow as an ingredient.  The item is named after lucky summoner Zeke, who is a huge supporter of the Refer-a-Friend program.

Next, Emblem of Valor is losing the life steal component in favor of armor and health regeneration, making it a much tankier item for support-type champions.

Finally, Locket of the Iron Solari is an epic support item.  It builds from Heart of Gold and gives both health and armor, along with an aura of health regeneration and an active which shields all champions within the aura for a moderate amount of health – perfect for that extra edge at the start of a teamfight.

Last, I want to point out that Riot is awesome.  They had a Riot Ambassador dodge a question harder than pre-change Jax, and he got slammed for it on the forums to the tune of around 2600 downvotes.  In less than 12 hours, Tryndamere (president of Riot) came in the same thread to answer the question and apologize personally.  Now that’s service.

I actually feel bad for the Riot Ambassador. A Rioter named “The Beard” made the aforementioned dumb post to dodge a question earlier yesterday. The forums caught fire with this horribly inadequate response and it turned into a meme. Allegedly, The Beard may have also lost his job at Riot. The Riot Ambassador was making a reference to this, a joke, and somehow people misinterpreted this as a real response.

Huh, didn’t know that. That makes this more interesting, and slightly more tragic.

They make a big deal about being close to the ‘community’, but the community is a monolithic seething mass of screaming voices.
