Finally! Requeue delay and hidden disconnects.

The basics from the Nautilus patch are this – everyone in the world got nerfed except for Alistair, Shen, and Warwick.  In addition, 2 much-needed changes to the game itself.  When someone dodges a queue, you now are automatically not requeued for 8 seconds, giving plenty of time to get out if you want to.  In addition, if someone on your team D/C’s, the enemy team won’t be notified for 5 minutes, which eliminates the 5v4 D/C push.  Awesome!  There haven’t been any substantial analysis articles in a little while now, but be assured that we’re working on one!

The Separation of Church and League

League of Legends is one of the largest online competitive games in the world today. With so many games played daily, there are great moments, rage moments, epic wins and total fails. But there are two completely different divisions of this game.

The League: This is where everyone plays, good old Summoner’s Rift. Countless hours are spent here perfecting champions, tweaking item builds, practicing match ups , and LAST HITTING.

The Church: This is where everyone prays to. This is where we all want to be. These are the guys we all watch on a Sunday afternoon. The Pros, teams like CLG, TSM, SKgaming, Dignitas, Fnatic, etc.

And it is about time that they get separated.

With the release of Normal Draft Mode I still consistently see players confused as to how Draft Mode really works. I don’t doubt this is because of the influx of new players, but it also hints at a larger problem: people don’t understand how a draft is supposed to work. So recently, I’ve been on a winning streak in my solo queuing, and I wanted to have a little chat about some of the things that I think have contributed.  I’ve changed the way I play, the champions I play, and the manner in which I approach games.  However, I’m by no means an expert, so I’d like to hear what you all have to say as well.  Leave your thoughts on winning techniques in the comments, along with some of your all-time best successes and worst failures.

WCG 2011 Grand Finals

“Beyond The Game” is the slogan of the World Cyber Games, and at the 2011 60 national flags on stageGrand Finals it certainly seems like they’re dedicated to it.  The opening ceremony seemed almost Olympian in it’s seriousness, attention to sportsmanship, and respect for participating countries.  (more…)

To continue the discussion on language this week, a question: What is a stone?

You can, of course, talk about its properties, that is is jagged, perhaps grey, made of different particles and fits in your hand. But in all of our language, in any language, we cannot say what the stone is. We can feel it, touch it, probe it and come to know what it is, understand it once we have experienced it. But if you had never experienced a stone, no amount of descriptive language could permit you to truly and completely know what it is. This is the fundamental problem of communication. (more…)
